OK!!! So let me first say that I love my truck. I just bought it about 2 months ago with 67K original miles. The previous owner owned his own construction company and only used it to get around his compound (explaining the low miles).
Now here's why I'm ticked! About 3 weeks ago I started noticed a grinding everytime I turned my steering wheel. I went to Midas and had them look at it. They found nothing.
The grinding got worse. I take it back to Midas. This time they acknowledge that it's there but can't find a reasonable explination.
When the problem first started I thought it was the power steering pump, so I topped off the fluid. No change, then I was thinking, "well, maybe it the wheel bearings". But then I realized that if it was, it would only grind when I was turning and moving at the same time, not when I'm sitting at a stop and turning wheel as well. So wheel bearings are out of the question.
Also considered the brakes, but again, not them.
Then lets see.... the steering column, of course! Right? WRONG! It's in near perfect condition.
I don't know what else it could be. Nobody is helping me. I'm getting fed up. Not only that, (and I know this is a whole separate complaint but I'll throw it in here for sh*ts and giggles) but I'm thinking my idle arm is going bad.
I noticed the truck was pulling HARD to the right. (Again I took it to Midas). They did an allignment and said it was good to go, but also might still pull a little because of the wear of the tires. So what do I do? Go buy new tires and get yet another allignment. NO CHANGE WHATSOEVER.
Dodge did a great job with the engine and durability of the truck, but dear god they could have done better with the suspension and steering.
Someone isn't doing their job. Either Dodge or Midas. Or both. Because the truck is obviously out of whack and 3 trips later is only getting worse.
Note of observation: I do like Midas. With every other car I've ever owned, I've never had a problem that wasn't fixed the first time with them. Maybe this truck is cursed? Who knows?
