Ram 1500 LX 318

  • Automatic transmission
  • 200,000 miles

Some exterior rust managed by body shop with warnings of beginning frame rust. Maintained all mechanical elements of vehicle since used for outdoor activities with multiple friends. Restored radiator, steering, muffler, alternator, starter, etc. with mechanic noting best engine he has seen with no leaks etc. Mileage city 13-17 mpg, hwy 17-20. No steering or alignment problems, new tires.

Went for oil change and mechanic asked what happened to your frame and I said what? You better not drive it because you are going to drop your front steering, wheel assembly etc. This just occurred within six months with all the outer part of frame peeling off with areas you can put a pencil through.. All internet complaint sites indicate Dodge will not do any thing about this. I love this vehicle and have only owned Dodges for the last twenty years. Why would the muffler system last longer than the frame? Anyone have any answers?

Ram 1500 VAN 3.9L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 115,000 miles

At just 12 years old, the frame was completely rusted through. Body looked perfect, you would never know what was going on underneath. Steering box tore itself from the frame because the frame had rotted out My wife and kids could have died! As it was, they were stuck inside a parking garage when it broke apart.
