Ram 1500 4WD 8-cyl

Driving home on freeway, grinding noise, smoke. We had to drive approx. 40 mph. We had the truck towed to the Dodge dealership they say the transfer case is busted. We have had this truck in numerouis times and told them we felt like we were having transmission problems, they could never find anything wrong. Now our truck is still at the dealership because our ext. Warranty refuses to pay the claim. I have heard many people complaining about the transmissions in Dodge trucks, can't something be done? dealer we bought from is out of business(crown Dodge).
