Ram 1500 SLT 4.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 79,200 miles

Surges when cold or hot. Doesn't matter. goes from 600 rpm to 1100 rpm just sitting at a light or when first starting.

Any ideas guys/girls?

Update from Sep 2, 2009: Cleanded the MAC air filter I have on it and it ran good. Then went one block and she overheated on me. Had it towed to dealer today. Let them put it on the computer and see what's going on.

Ram 1500 SLT 5.7 HEMI

  • Automatic transmission
  • 31,000 miles

It sounds very similar to other complaints: random stalling, surging, erratic rpm's, especially the stalling when approaching intersections

and rounding corners. I can't believe the dealers don't now what the problem is. I really hope somebody has a handle on this.

Ram 1500 SLT 5.7 HEMI

  • Automatic transmission
  • 34,621 miles

I have been having problems with my engine surging when I hold the truck at a steady speed. Also when it is first started up and I turn the wheels it will stall. On top of that it will stall waiting at a stop light. It all happened on one tank of gas so I thought it was crappy gas. Turns out that the Computer needed software updates and the EGR replaced. I just got it back today and the truck acts and drives like I just bought it. If you are having these problems take it to your dealership and have them perform the maintenance.

Ram 1500 LX 4.7

  • Automatic transmission
  • 37,000 miles

This problem just recently started as when appling the brakes the engine raced and vehicle kept moving. Now when the car is moving the engine starts racing and you have to shut the truck off before it stops. I had the truck in to be services but when they put it on the computer found nothing said have to bring in when does it. They tuned it up and put a fuel kit in. That night I took it out and went to dinner with my wife and did it again this time we we were on ice and the truck slid. The next day the same thing happened again not once but twice and they don't know what it is or how to fix it and I am damned mad. I take very good care of my vehicle and have regular maintenace on it. I have had two prior rams and never had this problem before. I want someone to tell me what it is and that they are going to fix the problem.
