Ram 1500 SLT 4.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 36,000 miles

Vibration and noise coming from driver side hub assay. Loud pop and vibration stops when 4wd hi is engaged. Thought that hub lock might of been stuck. Driving in reverse and all other tricks did not work and noise becoming more evident. Gonna replace hub and re-post. Hope the problem doesn't develop in passenger side. With only 36K miles it is very annoying.

Ram 1500 4.7L

I started hearing a howling/roaring sound coming from the front end of the truck. Sounded like big mud tires on blacktop. Over the next two weeks I noticed vibration in the steering wheel and a jerking when turning to the right. I did some research to find out that people where having problems with hub assy failure on the 2006 model. the 2005 uses the same assy. So, I took the tire and caliber assy off and I did have a slight wobble in the hub assy. I could feel a drag and hear a scraping noise when I would turn the hub by hand. I bought a new hub assy and it turned more freely and did not make any scraping noise so I installed the new hub. Took truck for test drive and howling noise is gone...on that side, now slight roaring on the other side. I will replace that one next weekend. I called Dodge and all they told me was: "there are no recalls on that vehicle ma'am." I said: "I know that is the problem" ...sigh I urge everyone to call dodge and file a complaint. Maybe if they get enough they will recall the 2005 along with the 2006 they already recalled before someone loses a tire and somebody gets seriously hurt.

i was driving and i heard a pop after a fairly new rubbing sound had started, but once the pop the sound stopped, so i thought it was better, soon enough my tire was popped by the control arm. my hub & bearing had popped causing my tire to be popped. overall it cost 2600, but that was because of the $400 tire, and $300 steering linkage as well

It was a recall on the truck, I bought it used with (19k) miles.. Don't get me wrong i like dodge rams it is a nice looking truck, But the recall was for the hub bearing, the transfer case ect... I found more than one recall ugh...... Oh yeah it stalls rpm drops. and the brakes and steering gets hard to turn. This is a real pain in my as$ as well as others I could go on and on about the problems that i've had.... so before i buy another dodge i will make sure that none of this happens again i will do my research... one more thing.. dodge does not want to fix these problems so i have to come out of pocket.. GAWD i mean really....

My front passenger wheel broke off! The lower control arm snapped in two. Luckily I was only driving 20mph when it happened or it would have surely rolled or flipped. I always heard a popping sound coming from that wheel but discarded never thought it was a problem..only occurred when i went over speed bumps and such. everything ripped completely out of my wheel well and my truck landed on top of my rim. Did alot of damage. I always have babied my truck and dodge has the courage to tell me that it might not have been defected ? Still waiting to see if there going to help. Any advice.....?

Ram 1500 SLT Hemi V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 56,000 miles

My front wheel almost fell off at 56000 miles. My first set of tires wore out at 12,000 miles. The dealer said "Tire are funny things" and are not covered under the warranty. I complained about front in noises and they never found anything until the warranty ran out. I had both sides replaced.

Ram 1500 ST V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 74,000 miles

I drive this truck normally. I haven't hit anything. I went in to get a brake job and was told the hub assembly was bad too. The guy showed me how loose it was and so very dangerous to drive. There was no roaring or signs that I could think of. The part alone ran nearly 250 dollars plus labor of 75 dollars. I was just wondering if anybody else had this problem?
