The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 equipped with nitto terra grappler tires, size: 285/70R17 116-T. while driving approximately 30 mph, the tread separated from the rear passenger side tire prematurely. The contact was able to coast the vehicle over to the side of the road. The contact applied a spare tire to the rear passenger side tire area. The vehicle was parked at the contact's residence due to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was waiting to determine if the manufacturer would investigate to determine how the tire separation occurred. The VIN was not provided. Ram 1500 8-cyl Diesel

  • 29,000 miles
While driving at a speed of 30 mph the outside sidewall and tread completely separated on the tire. These were cooper discoverer S/T LT265/70 R17 made in Utah 02/05. The side wall remained on the rim as well as the remaining parts of the tire, it was wide open between the tread and the sidewall all the way around the tire. Not a "blowout" the tire came apart. If this would have been at highway speed I wouldn't be writing this.
