Ram 1500 8-cyl

  • 65,000 miles
The vehicle is a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab. While driving on a freeway at the posted speed limit of 70 mph the windshield became fogged unexpectedly and wood not clear. No air would exit the defroster vents and the system was stuck in the vent mode. The result was a near high speed collision as I was not able to see the highway. This has happened 4 times this season and the local Dodge dealer states that Dodge is aware of the problem indicating that the system will require a new housing and heating door. The estimate for the repair is between $800 and $1000. I have spent $85 to have the problem looked at and estimated. At this time the vehicle has no floor heat, and the defroster works only intermittently and compromises visibility in certain weather conditions. This problem first presented itself with 65,000 miles on the truck and continues to be an ongoing problem even after the parts were replaced last winter season by and independent repair shop with Dodge parts. It worked ok for a while, but is acting up again. The dealer stated that moisture causes a door to stick and break.

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that she was unable to control the defrosting in the vehicle causing it to obscure her visibility. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who informed the contact that she needed to replace the fractured recirculation door and parts. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000. Updated 02/23/11

I have a 2006 Dodge 1500 and my blinkers and my windshield wipers are not working properly. When I signal to turn left the right blinker comes on. And the windshield wipers on low start going really fast. This is very frustrating. It started at about 69,000 miles.

Purchased a new 2006 Dodge quad cap at 33,000 miles the turn signal switch malfunctioned (if you signal to turn right the left signal would come on, and vise-versa, high beam would not turn off after getting it turned on, windshield wipers, would turn while signaling, and stop periodically during rain storms). The dealer replaced the faulty switch, and at 54,000 miles the switch malfunctioned again, and is doing same things.

My 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 is having issues with the signals and wipers. Serious problem when I am driving in the rain and my left blinker says I'm turning right and vice versa. Wipers not working at all. I was caught in the rain today and manually had to flip my wipers and signals almost caused a wreck.

I have a 2006 Dodge Ram quad cab and recently the turn signal / wiper switch has been acting up. Quite often when I push down to turn the left turn signal on the right comes on and there are times when no turn signal comes on at all. I was almost rear-ended because of this. Also sometimes the wipers will not come out of intermittent no matter what setting I have them on. Again this almost caused an accident because during a heavy rainstorm all that I could get to work was intermittent. I have read online of other 2006 Dodge Ram owners having these same issues. This is a huge safety concern and should be recalled.

1) the windshield wiper module assembly and fluid froze. That in turn shorted out the totally integrated power module (main computer) was told FCM internal fault needs tipm. Do not have windshield wiper fluid. 2) 1-27-10 heater/defroster quit working. Had to replace the blower motor assembly. When replacing found a broken door in the motor assembly. Have not replaced the door. 3) very bad front end vibration. Was just told that both bearings need to be replaced. 4) check engine light with code need exhaust gas recirculation system valve.

2006 Dodge Ram 1500 windows have frost, ice, or fog on them making it impossible to see to drive safely. The dealership's estimate is for $850 to replace a blender door with a new 2007 door because the original unit breaks to easily.

A recall is definitely in order here for the cabin air blend door breaking, 2006 through 2002 models have had a large number of complaints filed and in 2006 had the most filed yet in 2007 zero complaints filed for this problem, let me explain why. I contacted daimler Chrysler filed a complaint and got nowhere, they just don't care about their bad design, or stand behind their product!! I will never buy a product from them again. The air box has an opening with one tab protruding out so when the blend door closes it stops at the tab, well the tab isn't strong enough to receive the impact of the door slamming it and breaks off thus jamming closed or falling off, the engineers at delmar Chrysler figured this out and engendered a new box with two tabs so it wont break yet the service dept at the dealers keep replacing the doors and not the entire box (because it's a bigger more expensive job) and that's why some people have had it fixed several times, because they are not fixing it correctly so in turn you then are out of warranty and now it cost the consumer to fix this expensive poorly engineered box that they know is a design flaw.sad, very sad. Daimler Chrysler put this newly designed box in their 2007 and newer models and have not one complaint, so why wont they recall these bad design boxes and broken blend doors (which are the number one biggest problem with the 2006 trucks) and put their newly engineered boxes-blend doors in the trucks at their expense not the consumer, delmer Chrysler knows they have a bad design and still wont own up to it, we the consumer need to flood their phones until they fix this poorly engineered very expensive problem that they created until they recall it. This problem is a safety issue because you cannot control where the air flow is going like the windshield for visibility in foggy or snowy conditions, forced to pul over cant see, thank you in advance for taking the time and effort putting pressure on them to correct their mistake.

There has be a number of occasions this has happened about probably 100 times but paid not much attention until this winter. The turn signal level is also used to turn on the wipers on the vehicle. The problem arises when the vehicle lights are turned on, the wipers are on, and the turn signal are turned on. For no reason the turn signal from the opposite side of the vehicle is the one that operates. Normally when you are turning to the right the turn signal does not turn on and the left side signal turn on. In order to alleviate this problem I have to turn the wipers off completely. This causes a problem because this impairs visibility an also is giving other drivers the wrong signals. I have no idea what caused this issue but since I reside in the state of Virginia it is a requirement that when it rains you must turn your lights and wipers this has caused me a problems since I depend on this vehicle and when it snows or rain I cannot operate the vehicle. I am taking the vehicle to the Dodge dealer tomorrow to see what is the problem. I have not caused any accidents. Some drivers had got aggravated since some times I give them the wrong turn signals. The incidents have occurred many times in the last 8 months and I have noted that is getting more frequent since we have got more snow and rain in the North East I whish I can provide specific dated but it has happened so many times that I got tired of it and I am taking the vehicle to the dealer tomorrow. I am putting today as the most current date.

All control of defroster, heat and A/C was lost. Fan continued to operate with no way to clear windshield, heat or cool truck. Dodge had knowledge of failure and update to correct. This was not covered under the factory warantee and is a safty issue as far as I am concerned. You must be able to see thru the windshield to drive.
