transmission won't shift right

The transmission on my 2008 Ram 1500 down shifted for no reason. It resulted in a loss of control of the vehicle, and I ended up in a creek totaling my truck. I was carried by ambulance to a local hospital where I was treated for a broken wrist and hand. I had to undergo surgery a few days later and spent a month and a half off of work. I underwent 13 weeks of occupational therapy to regain full use of my right arm. Thanks Dodge for all the pain and medical bills!!! Jon

Ram 1500 ES 4.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 116,942 miles

On 3 occasions over the past month, the transmission has failed to shift down into 1st gear after stopping at a intersection. Manual shifting has not corrected the problem. After stopping again and restarting the transmission begins to shift correctly.

I have taken my truck to dodge dealer for repair twice for the same problem. After leaving my truck with them over night, they call me about nine in the morning saying it was fix. 5 minutes after paying $900 dollors and leaving service, it does the same thing they said they fixed. they keep giving me the run around. 1st they said my 2nd and 4th electronic transmition switch was out coming from diognostic test. i told them if they turn my truck off and turn it back on it works fine, its like it resets itself. so how did they know it was working fine when the mechanic never checked it out the day before when the engine light refuse to come on, eventhough its was having the problem. they replied that maybe the new part was fault as well. after turning the rental car in i had to get another for the next day because they said the mechanic was gone for today, that he had an Dr appointment. plus they wouldnt get me a rental car. i left it again over night, i did not hear from them all day until i call them about 3 pm. they replied the mechanic wanted to put gas in my truck to drive it home so he could see what the problem was and to keep it over night. i ask to speak to him, then they replied he had left already for a doctor appointment. so i ask how was he going to drive my truck home. they put me on hold for 5 minutes then came back and said the mechanic just need to drive it home. i never spoke to the mechanic. i am from out of town and treated so badly through dodge. now they would have it for 3 days while i still pay for rental. can you please help me get my truck back in service. i have never had this problem with dodge service anywhere. there is more that can be said for what its worth but there is no use. can someone please help me.

Ram 1500 SXT 3.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,621 miles

I'm 41 years old & decided to go back to school and wanted a good dependable truck so I have always drove a Chevy but had friends with dodge's and liked the look and feel of a Dodge Ram so i got a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 SXT. During Christmas break, (I hadn't drove my truck in 2 weeks), then when i do, I'm going down the interstate and out of the blue my RPM's go real high, my truck wont move, I pull over turn truck off then back on, I had smoke come from underneath. Drove it straight to a mechanic he said it showed error P0733 and needed the trans rebuilt. I have only had my truck since July 2010 (still paying the loan on it) and can't afford major repairs (oh warranty went out in Nov 2011) and now its just sitting here unable for me to drive cause it wont shift into 3rd gear........ and now I'm wondering if this truck was a good choice.........

Sometime when shifted to reverse the vehicle with not move in reverse. Indicator shows reverse. Then about 5 to 10 seconds later the vehicle will just shift in reverse. There is a fairly decent knock when it shifts.

Ram 1500 Sport 4X4 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 600 miles

Stupid transmission, won't shift right. While driving down the road at constant speed it feels like its constantly in and out of gears. And I just happen to live on a hill, boy is that fun, going up the hill the trans won't downshift, just keeps revving and then does a downshift causing a nice smoke show. Did I mention I hate this truck!!!
