Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7L Hemi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 135,000 miles

With the hemi 5.7 there is an inherent flaw in that cylinder 4 begins to fail then 6 follows. Engine loses 60% performance and clunks like shoes in the dryer, if gets too far outta hand the camshaft goes. The intake valves get bent and hit the pistons, valves get stuck open and then hammered and deteriorate. If I spoke to 10 Ram owners, 7 had or heard of this problem.

Dodge position is they built this Ram with the flaw and Ram configuration does this, mileage varies. The bean counters thought it cheaper not to correct and just let owners walk it off, similar problems as with their diesels from Ford. I love this truck and so many ways over the GMC and Ford I previously owned, but the huge financial burden is enough to change me into low end Nissans it seems.

Its shameful and embarrassing that their warranty wouldn't have even covered it, I checked...now I'm financially over the replacement value cost of this truck due to the repairs. The insurance wouldn't even cover this...I can't emphasize enough how disheartening and common this experience has been...shame on Dodge...

Update from Mar 13, 2015: OMG.. here i go again...i jus spent over 7500$ to repair misfire on cylinder 4 & 6 and new parts galore + camshaft. Well, so aftr a month of enjoying the nice repairs the wonderful truck starts having MORE problems, this is serious guys, i go n pay for thorough diagnostics n fi d out that now cylinder 1 & 3 are misfiring, ew camshaft n lifter problems!! i JUST spent over 7500$ n repairs NOW its messed up again!?....Hey Dodge, i love this truck soo much, over my old Ford and Gmc, it is really heart-wrenching that you build such a wonderful truck in so many ways but cant figure out how to design a hemi engine without design defects, no its not due to my upkeep its jus junk like yur deisel and now i cant even trade it in in its current condition, i must admit defeat--DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, BUY A DODGE HEMI ENGINE, you will deeply and sadly regret it my friends...
