Ram 1500 Laramie

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

We have keyless entry w/remote start. Locks would randomly lock/unlock on own along with headlights flashing, horn honking, Windows randomly rolling down, truck would start via remote start randomly on its own. All of this resulted in a dead battery. Took truck into Dodge dealership explained above symptoms. They looked trucked over called back and said it was a TIPM issue and needs to be replaced. Costing $1,314.81. Said that this part can cause the issues described. They also stated they did not witness the truck doing any of the above issues. Paid & picked up truck, pulled in drive way and as soon as I got out of the truck it immediately started locking/unlocking and the remote start turned truck back on. Called Dodge back returned truck for them to re-look at. They called back said yes, it is a remote key issue and will give those to use at "wholesale price" which will be $500! Also asked about refund on the TIPM part they said no, that part was for sure bad as well. Hmmm???
