The dashboard has disintegrated causing exposure too wiring, intermittent diagnosed and undiagnosed problematic wiring issues with intermittent 'no bus' causing loss of power on freeway. Dealer unable or unwilling to further diagnose issue unless entire dashboard plastic is replaced unfortunately it is the same plastic that numerous people according to dealer and according to several internet searches that the dashboard plastic was not manufactured properly causing physical, emotional and financial harm to tens of thousands of Dodge /Chrysler owners. When my truck lost all power I was driving in fast lane of fwy. All power was gone including brakes and steering. Had to use muscle power to steer and let vehicle slow enough to use force to brake. Multiple people have informed the NHTSA in regards to the dashboard. The NHTSA would only investigate if I had died.

This is my second complaint regarding dash board. The dash started cracking with just 30,000 miles on truck, when I put in compliant to NHTSA. Now 109,000 the electrical, air bags, computer harness wiring are exposed with a intermittent stalling and a guessing game from authorized Dodge dealers as to what might be the issues. "undetermined electrical shorts from cracked dash a possibility" "ABS service light stays on, also "undetermined by dealer", "can't track code" "don't drive as airbag might deploy because dash has dash debris from cracks" plus hearing "refuse to service unless replace the dashboard" all these quotes when trying to take to get the truck fixed. Main computer harness intermittent "no bus" can't find shorts! stalls out on freeway. The glove box even hangs on only one side. Unsafe if airbags deploy. Splintering of remains chards of faulty dashboard plastic, stall on fast lane of 14 freeway in ca had to coast to right side with no power steering lucky the brakes worked and the traffic was light. Short in wire due to exposed dash board.

The contact owns a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500. While driving approximately 30 mph in rainy weather conditions, the vehicle began to slide and the front wheels locked when the brake pedal was depressed. The failure occurred without warning; however, the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. Numerous gauges would not work while the vehicle was in operation. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection and they stated that the vehicle was operating properly. On a separate occasion, the vehicle was taken to another authorized dealer for a second opinion. The technician stated that the braking issue was a manufacturer defect, but there was no resolution. The VIN was not accepted by the system. The failure mileage was 79,000 and current mileage was 81,000. Updated 05/05/09.

Before any engine performance up grade, recognized after tbs 18-019-01 installed in the ECM/PCM of my 1999 Dodge diesel 2500 24V coolant not circulating through engine. Temp fix with new ECM and tsb upgrade 10-040-02. No code or serious over heat especially during winter months. But does run 190 degrees or more up hill- winter months. Scalding signs inside engine at thermostat change. Mechanic clueless upon visual over pressure of top radiator hose after engine reaches operating temps. Software seem to go into default or hacked cal mode. With this decrease in performance is suddenly mileage decrease, power and shifting erratic suddenly. Other symptoms not obvious either. Again everything seem fine after last software boot but after 100 miles or so returning home from out of town dealership, truck running loosely after over night sit.

While driving at any speed and with no warning vehicle will start to accelerate. It will be hard for vehicle to decelerate. Dealer notified. Consumer stated that the vehicle does not come with a throttle linkage, but it comes with a computer and sensor switches which operate the throttle. When the sensor switches failed the engine failed too.
