Dash board is crumbling exposing numerous controls, gauges, wiring, and airbag components which is a huge safety concern. The A/C has seized to work anymore due to electrical problems which is spreading to other control gauges and components. The safety of the airbag system is now a concern.

I noticed a crack in my dash (about 2") and the felt weak and spongy. After a couple of month I notice the crack grown across the dash (about 24") and felt really week. After 5 months from the initial crack the whole dash has fell apart into large chunks and now there is no dash left exposing all the components under it. I regularly cleaned and treated the dash with dash protective products but did not prevent condition.

At first we notice cracks in the dashboard.they then got bigger and wider..we are now at a point where the whole dashboard has caved in leaving huge holes and broken plastic.a definite defect. Dodge refuses to do anything about this. I have gone online and there are at least 100 complaints regarding this situation. And probably more. That have not been reported. This is not cosmetic. This is dangerous as it affects electrical and air bag operation. A recall should be issued by Dodge and the defective dashboards should be replaced. We are senior citizens and should not have to be faced with this dangerous defect.

The entire dashboard is cracking and disintegrating. Obviously due to substandard material and/or workmanship. This is leaving pieces of plastic with very sharp jagged edges and points covering the top of the dashboard. This is a very dangerous condition as these sharp edges can cut or blind someone in even a minor accident.

The dashboard started cracking around 60,000 miles. It has continued to crack and all of the plastic vent covers have fallen apart into the vents. I have now found out that the insulation in the dash is dry rotting and falling into the A/C vents and causing problems with the A/C motor. This could potentially cause an electrical problem.

Ram 2500 4WD 10-cyl

Dashboard cover began falling apart for no apparent reason. The deterioration first appears as cracking that later opens up gaps in the dash. Numerous sharp edges are created on the dash. It is unknown whether or not the deterioration affects the airbags. Dashboard deterioration started last summer while the truck was parked. I park outside, so the inside of the truck is exposed to normal Arkansas summer temperatures, but every other vehicle I've owned has been exposed to similar conditions without this ever happening before.

Who the [xxx] let the dang color of the interior pass the test? surly someone must have said I love the truck, but the multi color dots on the inside need to be changed. Would a solid (gray, black, tan) have been all that hard to do" it looks like someone threw up fruity pebbles in there. What were you thinking" also my truck has less than 100,000 miles on it and I have a large rip on the front seat. I would think it would at least make it to 100,000 miles. Several 95 Chevy (over 130,000 miles), a 99 Chevy (unk miles) in my family with no tears or ugly coloring. Come on what is up with the color choice? information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The dash was fine no events until Sept.2008. Opened the truck up one day to reveal a huge crack in the dash. The dash is cracking in the rate of 2 cracks in 2008 and one in 2009, one in 2010. We are up to 4 cracks now. Hasn't been fixed. I am hearing horror stories of this causing serious problems. I do not let my kids ride in it.the more it cracks the less safe we feel driving it.

2002 Dodge dashboard is completely failed. Falling in and creating sharp objects in behind dash and on floorboards. Pulled a sharp shard of plastic from my sons mouth 2 days ago that I had missed from the floor board. The plastic made his mouth bleed. I'm very glad he didn't try to swallow it. I hope others are aware of this and keep the small objects from the children also!! Dodge needs to fix this safety problem. Not to mention what all those plastic shards would do in an high speed impact scenario. Please let's get this problem fixed with all new reliable safe material. Dodge offered me a free dash the last time I called them however they wanted me to pay for labor. The product I asked is the exact same and has not been updated. I'm not paying for this to just happen again even if it is for labor only. It also suggests they know it is a severe problem or they wouldn't have offered that to me. My 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup dash board is disintegrating. It has been well taken care of and I have not used any solvents or products on it for cleaning other than soap and water. I also have a 1999 Dodge Ram that did the exact same thing.it is a disgrace. Pieces were nearly swallowed by my young child!

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 and the dashboard had completely cracked and peced away. There are sharp plstic pieces I find everywhere. They slide under the pedals and cause a distraction. Im constantly gathering peices large and small from my dash falling through while I drive. The glare it makes on the windshield also is a destraction. I find myself looking at this monstrosity and not on the road. This needs to be fixed and most certainly should be a recall. Why would I buy another one when its just going to cause the same problem and upset me.

Flying sharp objects. From Dodge cracking dash. This problem is not caused by sunlight since my truck is parked under cover and is not available to the sun. The sharp shards of plastic break and crack off and make for a very bad place to impact the human body if a safety restraint were to malfunction or fail completely. The flying debris also poses a risk during an impact or collision.
