Ram 2500 Laramie V6

  • Manual transmission
  • 90,000 miles

I have an after market air filter in my 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie truck. After cleaning and while installing the filter back in its place, without any warning, the hood slammed shut on my left forearm. The locking mechanism latched. I started yelling for my wife who was in the attic to get out to help me. Extreme pain now setting in and cirulation being cut off to my arm. Long story short, she tried to pull the release latch but would not unlock. She then ran to a neighbors house who responded and had to pry hood open enough so I could pull arm out. I have been under the hood many times since owning the truck, without any indications or warning, the hood shocks I guess just went out and slammed shut on my arm.

I have since gone thru two medical procedures, cortisone shots and most resent, surgery due to nerve damage caused from the hood slamming down on my arm. Has this happened to anyone else, beware? You don't want to go thru what I have.
