Both rear wheel wells are rusting out from inside out. I know this is a old vehicle now but this should rust from outside in. I take very good care of truck so it doesn't rust away on me, this is very frustrating to have happen. Rust will eat thru soon enough and rocks will be able to be flung out at other cars.

I noticed a rust bubble under the paint a few inches above the rear tire on the passenger side. I removed the paint on the 1/4" diameter area and coated with touch up paint. After a week the rust started bleeding thru the touch up paint and I noticed a couple of more bubbles. I then removed these bubbles with a hand held pencil type grinder, coated with primer, then touch up paint only to find the same thing a few weeks later. I have doing a little research and this seem like a common issue. Due to the inner fender I can not get to the back side of the fender to stop the issue. Looks like the design allows water/salt/debris to be trapped in this area.

While parked after a short drive, the driver's door lock actuator failed in an unsafe mode (locked). Failure mode caused door to remain locked despite key turn effort to unlock. In addition, the door cannot be unlocked by lifting the manual lock control near the driver's left elbow. This single point of failure resulted in no way to enter the vehicle since there is not a key access to the right front door. A keyless entry system option mitigates the risk, but is not always installed. If an injured person or small child was inside the vehicle and unable to actuate the door handle from inside, it would not be possible for them to be helped in their egress from outside. This failure mode is so common that there are youtube videos on the part replacement. Ignoring the safety implication of this high frequency single point of failure is unconscionable on the part of the manufacturer.
