Stratus SE 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 145,000 miles

a slight flickering of the oil light, while i was idling, wasn't that bad. Then the rpm started dropping, along with the light going on. after a while my stratus starts dying because of this on and off symptom. while driving it, i could feel a slight lack of power, thats all. next, immediately after starting it, it struggles to stay alive, jumps to and fro about the tach within the 1000 rpm range, then dies. after rolling it into my local machanic shop, it turns out to be the fuel pump dying which caused my car to starve on gas which made my oil light come on. if your car is flickering, get a new filter before you have to buy a pump. my car has had the same symptoms once since that operation but is fine now. until last week... my car would try to start and would on warm days eventually. then the engine stopped starting completely. i guess i tried until my entire electrical system puked. it stopped responding all together
