Stratus

  • 54,100 miles
Driving down I-71 at approx. 10:00pm and the rear of my car started to sway alomost causing M, E to lose control. I pulled over and realized the drivers side rear tire had failed. The side wall had broke down and came apart under normal operating conditions. Speed was 67mph and the tire had 35psi in it at the time of failure. Treat on the tire is still approx 50%.

Stratus 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles
While driving about a year ago passenger rear strut broke. Upon inspection I noticed the top strut clamp of the spring corroded, causing the spring and strut to fall out of place and rub against the tire. Had to replace tire and strut. Approximately $500 for both. 6 months later the driver side strut did the exactly the same thing. The clamp corroded and has fell apart, causing the spring to rub against thewheel once again. This was due to an aluminum alloy/metal corroding. Manufacturer should know that aluminum corrodes extremly bad when it come in contact with weather.
