C-Max Hybrid ES 2.0L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 58,000 miles

This is the third time in the last year that I'm reporting this same issue. Out of the blue, radio and sound die on MyTouch, but screen still works. Go two days (without any entertainment system), and then on the morning of day 3, go out to the car and it won't start. Whatever is the problem with the sound system, it is drawing on the battery when the car sits until completely dead. The problem is, when the car is jump-started, it's basically a "reset" on the car as after the jump, everything is back to working normally. This is the 6th or 7th time this has happened, in this exact order, in the past 18 months. I've reported the issue on this forum for this and the past 2 times it happened (once in Feb 2018, and once in Nov 2017). Took it to the dealer's service department this time after the radio died, but before the car died. At first they said there's nothing wrong (scan shows no issues), but yet the radio is still dead. When pressed about this, was old to bring it in (two weeks later due to full service schedule) and they will most likely have to "replace a module which they have to get at from under the dash". We'll see what they say when I take it in, a little over one week from now. More than frustrating! I bought this car new with plans to run it for 10 years. It's only been 3 years and 8 months (since purchase date). When I don't have this problem, I absolutely love the car. But if they cannot fix it this time, I fear I will have to trade it in and get something else. If it comes to that, I WILL NOT be purchasing another Ford - EVER.

A jump start required twice a year on average. Dealer diagnostics did not uncover a problem.

C-Max Hybrid Brown Interior 4 cyl-Hybrid

  • Automatic transmission
  • 7,900 miles

This problem has occurred on at least three different occasions and is unpredictable when it will occur again. It is not due to a dead battery since to start the car one only has to touch the battery for a second or two using jumper cables from another car and all the lights immediately come on and the car starts immediately. Also there is a clicking noise coming from the firewall (like a solenoid engaging when the lights come on).

I noticed several other complaints about battery intermittently going dead when parked, but in my case the battery appears to be fully charged but not making an electrical connection.
