Contour SE 2.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 166,000 miles

When I bought it it shifted a little rough into 2nd gear only or at least I believe that's how it went, ignored it. Bought it Dec 8 1018. Now it shifts rough and jerks shifting into 2nd gear and it shifts rough into 3rd gear. Don't know what's causing it, I believe the trans could be the original trans. Hasn't dropped out of gear or slipping I don't think, if it has I can't tell because my 2003 Dodge Neon was harsh.

Contour Dohc I4

Luckily the dealer was great and even though warranty was up we only paid for the labor, no problems since and works smoothly, at least as smoothly as a Contour will.

Contour V6

This is a 1998 Ford Contour LX. While driving on the highway, the car suddenly started rev'ing the engine, accelerating sharply and shifting so hard the car would jerk. The Check Engine light came on at the same time. I took the car to a Ford dealer. They ran a diagnosis, found a 'hash shift' concern and reprogrammed for that. They also found a vacuum line off and re-attached it.
