My car was recalled for a faulty lighting control module and was repaired in June 2014 because the headlights failed. Today the lights experienced the exact same failure. Ford is refusing to repair it unless we pay full price for diagnostics, parts and service. I have found that another recall was issued for the same part in April of '17 but my car is not included in the recall. Recall #15S39. I can't understand why this recall repair would only last 3 years unless something was faulty in the repair parts or installation of the part. Please can someone help me?

2004 Ford Crown Victoria. Consumer requests for investigation/action on continued axle, bearing failures, defects (potential catastrophic loss of control and allegedly defective airbags to protect victims) collapse of safety recall system. The consumer stated Ford did some recall work on the 2003 models with regards to the rear axles and bearings. However, the neglected to correct the defect in the 2004 and possibly later models. Also, the lights were defective and it took an entire decade to rectify the issue.

Recall # 15S39, pertaining to headlight module and soldering problems causing the headlights to go out. My headlights have gone out. It has been checked for fuse problems and bulbs burnt out. Not the problem. Contacted the manufacturer and 2 dealerships. All said the part is not available and they do not know when it will be available. Their remedy was that I walk. It has been since December 21, 2015 since the recall letter was sent out. It too had no remedy, or when the part would be available. Ford has no plans to fix the problem. My headlights went out when I was driving at night on the freeway. With no headlights I can not drive at night, during foggy weather, or during rain.

I took the car into future Ford to replace the recalled headlight module. (I waited 7 months before the module was delivered.) when they replaced the module they said the lights still wouldn't work. It took them 4 days to solve the problem and they then charged me $1,051.56 including a car rental. I know the headlights would come on if you pulled the turn indicator switch since I tried that before delivering the car and my neighbor saw them turn on also.

My car was recalled in April for a lighting defect that can cause the headlights not to work. Since my headlights had just malfunctioned and didn't work, I was glad the car was to be fixed. I called the dealer to schedule the repair and was told the parts were on back order. I called again and again and the parts are still not available. It has been almost four months without headlights. The car is unusable at night of course. Four months and they can't get the part. Unbelievable! talk about a safety concern.

Parking lights come on sometimes when the light switch is turned on. Headlights work fine, including brights. Parking light switch setting controls all other lights. I was told by my mechanic that the lighting control module was to fault. When the other lights (includes tail lights, tag light, front parking and side lights) don't come on, it presents an opportunity for a moving violation on the road at night. Obviously, this prevents my driving at night. The law here states that you get a ticket for an unsafe vehicle, you cannot drive the car home, the car is put in impound until you can move it to repair it. Quite a costly experience I would imagine. This was a previous police interceptor. How did they get away with it? there needs to be a recall on this lighting control module.
