E-250 5.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 208,781 miles

My transmission without any notice or effects that I can see, decided to not work in Drive. The mechanic checked it today and says the fluid is still red, no burn smell? He checks more and finds a drum is broken. Really? This is 4 years later and again another issue with the replaced transmission. Yes I have 336000 kms.

I cannot afford to replace truck, we have been hit hard with my wife having a stroke in Aug. 2016, then truck stolen in 2017. The government in this province (State)was socialist and has now just changed. The business is picking up but not enough yet. Why has Ford screwed up this transmission in this year??

E-250 5.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 119,303 miles

I bought this 2007 Ford E- 250 to replace my 2001 GM 1500 Cargo Van. I have had no problems with it for 1-1/2 years. I bought it from a client whom had it since new. My only issues till yesterday was my brakes needed repairs as usual, it has 192,000 kms or 119,000 miles. I drive about 45,000 kms (28000 miles) per year.

Yesterday, suddenly, my truck made a weird noise and would not go in reverse or backwards. I called our tow truck company, they towed it to my mechanic. He used to work for FORD as a Tech. He stated, same as a dealer stated, they have had these under basic warranty as well as outside the warranty. The rear planetary set just brakes with no warning. I need a new transmission, one with a warranty? I believed in FORD since this truck operated quite well for me. I do not know where I will come up with the money to buy a new one. I have had to start a GoFUNDME campaign to hopefully beg money to pay for the new transmission? http://www.gofundme.com/w7q698z . I use this truck to earn money to pay my mortgage etc.

My mechanic stated it just happens, its a badly engineered transmission. Ford has done last several Oil changes and did not discover it as well if that's what you may think. I do not off road with it, I use prescribed fuel etc..
