Edge LX 3.2L V6

The car began having overheating problems about 13,000 miles ago. It overheated in stop and go traffic on a not so hot evening. We took it in for service where they did many cooling system checks. It passed all tests, but finally at temperature, the cooling fan did not come on and it threw an error code for the fan controller module. The unit was replaced and the car was great for 8K miles.

It again overheated in stop and go traffic on a not so hot evening. Same service location, no obvious issues, they replaced the thermostat with a "fail open" unit and we had no problems for 5.6K miles. The latest time it overheated on a not so hot day while driving slowly back and forth for about 10 minutes on a steep hill (engine and tranny under some load).

Same service location, they could not replicate the problem. Compression tested all cylinders, checked oil color (coolant and oil is not mixed so no blown head gasket), checked coolant color, nothing suspect... Recommended that I take it to the dealership for computer system check. Possibly the Computer is not notifying the cooling fan to turn on at the right time?

Now this problem is getting on my nerves and becoming a serious issue. I've looked this problem up on the Internet to see if there were any recalls for this issue on this vehicle. I found none, but I saw tons of issues just like mine where the problem was because of the internal water pump put on this vehicle. I also saw where it cost about $2000 to fix because of where it's placed.

Ford needs to do something about this problem. I have a 17 month old baby boy who's fighting leukemia and he needs to get to his appointments at St Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis N. This was is his way back and forth. If this vehicle catches fire or God forbid blows up while we're on our way to the hospital or anywhere for that case. This could turn out to be a life threatening situation. Not good for me or Mr. Ford Motor Co.
