Edge SEL V6

Apparently there is a serious issue with this year in which a fouled out spark plug can cause serious issues with the PCM unit on the car. Being new to the Edge family at the time and purchasing the vehicle used. For a while it ran great. Then one day the engine light comes on and vehicle is running poorly. Had the code scan and it reported a bad spark plug and bad fuel injector. Replaced all the plugs, coils and fuel injectors at the time figure the problem was solved. Took it out driving and was still running poor. It would bogged down at times. No codes. Did a bit more research and found out that when a plug fouls out it can fry the PCM unit and what you had to do was send it out to have it re-flashed or replaced. There are after market places that will do the work if you ship to them. Taking to the dealer would have bleed me dry for a 10+ year old vehicle with that high of mileage. Overall the cost is over $1000k. Not to mention the headache. Eventually sold the car and a few years later purchased another one Ford Edge, same year which had its own separate issues of water pump failure and transfer case going. Would recommend avoiding the Edge due to the numerous issues and cost to get anything done on them!
