Ok, so we have the transmission problem with the 1999 explorer, now we have this loud pop, bang, thud noise coming from the front end of the 2008 edge. It started one month after purchase and it was merely annoying, happening when we drove over very uneven surfaces. Now, a year later, it is happening all the time and even upon acceleration and deceleration. We are taking it to Ford on Saturday. I may become a Honda convert.
Update from Apr 30, 2012: So my husband decided to check out the problem himself. He tightened the nuts at the top of the shock tower. Guess what? its quiet now.
