My wife and grandkids were in car when she said the oil pressure light came on, the check engine came on, alarms started sounding and then the engine just died. She had just gotten her oil change at the local Wally World. She checked the dipstick which showed no oil on the stick. She waited in the hot car, 95+ degree heat, on the side of the road for a few and checked it again. It showed signs of a little oil on the stick. She started the car and drove it home with no problem.

By this time she was pretty freaked out because she was left stranded on the side of the road with the grandkids. I was not home yet from work so she had the neighbor over to check out the car. It checked okay to him and he proceeded to inform my wife of a friend that just went through the same thing with his Edge. He told her that the engine holds the oil at the top of the engine so it takes a while for it get back down to the pan. That was why it didn't show any oil on the dipstick when she checked it earlier. That could also be why it lost the pressure and the engine died on her. I (she) can't afford to have a vehicle that is unreliable.
