The seat first started rocking a bit. Then this evening I get in the vehicle and it sinks to the floor and sounds like it has stripped gears. It has a power seat and it will not move

2010 Edge bought new. Power driver seat started rocking and was getting worse when I took it to dealership where I bought it and was told that there were two rivets that were bad. I was told that at some point they would fail and it would be a safety issue so I had it repaired for $1084. Turns out it is a known problem. I've been buying Ford since 1994 but I'm feeling kinda stupid now.

Takata recall - the 2010 Ford Edge has a flaw with the seat track. The vehicle seat track appears to be stretched open over prolonged use and begins to rock back and forth with accelerating and braking. This concern is the seat track may stretch to a point where it will separate from base and track in a motor vehicle crash. I've also discovered through on line checks that this is a common problem with Ford Edge, Explorer and several other vehicles Ford manufactures.

I was driving my 2 week old 2010 Edge limited, on a highway in stop and go traffic, when I was hit from behind by a tractor trailer loaded with asphalt shingles. I was pushed into a car in front of me and both cars were totaled. During the crash, the components of the dash were ejected into the backseat.. if someone had been seated in the back seat, I'm sure they would have been severely injured by the debris.the dashboard stayed in place. Also, the drivers seat brokefrom it's anchors. The air bag did not deploy.
