Within the first year of owning car, Bluetooth connection has been faulty. Phone calls dropped or do not go through at all. Also have a lot of difficulty syncing phone and iPods in general. The biggest concern is music playing on Bluetooth connection. Songs will repeatedly stop/skip, and after the pause will sound like it's been sped up. Sometimes the pauses will be several seconds long. There is no rhyme or reason, but usually happens when the car first turns out. Sometimes, it will work itself out and will not happen for the rest of the ride. But lately, it's been a more consistent issue. We had tried on multiple occasions to update software, but would get error messages. The Ford dealership we purchased the car from was no help at all.

We called on a recall on our 2011 Ford Edge and we were told we had to make an appointment. Recall on the Sync system should have been enough for the local dealer to replace it, but no, they charged us $50 had our car all day and then said, sorry we couldn't find the problem. For over three weeks the damn screen was blank, no rear security back up camera, no radio, no heat control, nothing, yet the morning we started the car to take in for the recall, the screen slowly came on after being off for a long time. No reason, just a malfunction.

The local Ford dealer said they couldn't find any errors so they charged us $50 and sent a dissatisfied customer out the door. We used to be proud to say we were a Ford family car owner. Since we bought this 2011 Ford Edge, I am embarrassed to admit I bought a ford. If you want a good car, don't buy a Ford Edge, looks are deceiving.

We are very disappointed to know the dealer has record of the recall and all they did was say maybe you should go online and download the new software update for the system and and install it in our car. We asked, well then why couldn't you do that for us and they just said, "We don't do that". Great service, NOT. Now I will tell everyone I know not to buy a Ford and for sure the Edge. Ford, get your act together and put your money where your mouth is. I read your big wig owners message and they are full of ----.

The Sync system is terrible and very unreliable! It will work properly for months and then one day something strange happens with it. Unable to connect phone. Phone calls drop. Volume doesn't work ant then without touching the screen the volume runs up to max volume. It will scare the hell out of you! Can see how these touch screen systems can lead to distraction and cause accidents!! They are really the worst things to have in a vehicle! You can't do anything unless you TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD AND LOOK AT THEM! THAT MAKES A LOT OF SENSE!! Give me back my buttons and dials so that I can control EVERYTHING without taking my eyes off the road! Let us all drive safely again!

The Ford Sync MyTouch system would reboot itself randomly over the past 6 months and earlier this month, it completely died. No radio, etc for an entire week.

I brought it in and the dealer fixed it over a three day period since it was still under warranty.

Thanks Ford!

The Syncing system doesn't work properly - from just not functioning at all, to dropping calls, only partially working, etc. I believe this is all caused by an electrical problem, which I will enter as a separate complaint. Various problems happen randomly each time we get in the car, and this is one of them. This is a common problem with the 2011 Ford Edge, is obviously caused by incorrect manufacturing of the car, and Ford should take responsibility for it and make it right for their customers!!! RECALL THE CARS, FORD!

A week ago, after I performed the most recent SYNC update, my navigation stopped working. It gave me an error about a faulty SD card. I tried many things, but nothing worked. Fortunately there is an extended warranty on the system so it didn't cost me anything. I REALLY like the SYNC system. It was actually a selling point for me. I just hope this is the last issue I have with it. My father has an explorer and had all kinds of issues with his system but after several updates, which were done a couple of years ago, he has been problem free. My Edge is a 2011 and was bought used recently; therefore, perhaps the owner never did the update.

Since nearly the day I purchased the vehicle, the SYNC/MYTOUCH system never worked. The 1st instance was the radio volume changed on it's own. And then no one could hear me when I talked on the SYNC Bluetooth phone system.

After that, it has been a CONSTANT problem. After taking the vehicle in for the 18th time (seriously) and AGAIN being told that "this is the final update to the system", only to have it stop working again, I gave up and filed suit.

Along w/ the aforementioned issues, here are some more I don't have the radio on, but when I shut the car off and open the door to exit the vehicle, the radio turns on and stays on for about 5-10 minutes

the screen will go blank

the navigation works intermittently

voice commands are inconsistent.

the phone will pair. work for a few weeks and then stop working for no known reason.

odd and random icons will appear on the MYTOUCH screen.

intermittently the sun roof will not work. It'll open but wont close and we have to PULL it closed.

This is just a BIT of the ongoing problems I've had w/ this vehicle.

And all for the bargain price of only $38,000 !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought two 2011 ford edge. Almost fully loaded.

VIN:2FMDK4JC9BBA87230

When i first drove off the Lot i Loved the Vehicle. It felt like a Tank on the road. I started using the Ford

My touch system and it seemed slow. Then it started to freeze and restart at random times stating "Preforming

scheduled restart". I went back to the dealership, and they told me this is an isolated problem, and they

reloaded the software. In the first two weeks i was at the dealer ship 7 times to reload the software. I was

angry but civil, and wanted to return the vehicle. As i learned later it was completely within my rights to

retun the vehicle then. But the service manager assured me that an update was coming out in 2 weeks. so i

waited. 2 weeks became 4. 4 weeks became 3 months. 3 months became 6. Ford would not Return the vehicle stating

"The vehicle is not defective, it is just not working as it should. " it took ford 1 year and 3 months to fix

the car to 90%. it still is not fixed. Now it is 1 year and 8 months later and they apologize and give me an

extended warranty. I WANT TO RETURN THE CAR AND HAVE MY MONEY BACK!!

The 2011 Ford Edge is a great driving car. It's the in-dash software-driven electronics (Ford Synch and My Ford Touch) that are the problem. It has been back to the dealer for "software downloads" at least 8 times in the first eleven months. I've had screen blackouts; mysterious black boxes appearing in the video screen; phone synch problems; the radio will just quit unexpectedly and will only come back on if you turn it off and on repeatedly. The navigation system keeps rejecting the SD card so you have to stop, pull out the card, reinsert it and go through an installation process. The Sirius Satellite radio didn't work from new on. I kept getting instructions to go outside and wait 15 minutes for it to synch. I tried this at least four times and it never synched. Now I'm being badgered by Sirius satellite to pay for something that has never worked when it was free. This is my second Edge. My 2007 performed flawlessly for 39 months. It never needed anything and I was so happy with it that I sold it to a very close friend and decided to lease another one. While I love all the toys, they're only enjoyable when they work. When they fail, it only leads to frustration and more down time at the dealer. I understand Microsoft wrote the code. Go figure! It appears that it's just another buggy piece of MIcrosoft software. I only have a little over a year left on the lease and this car is going back. Someone else can live with the problems. It's too bad because the car is comfortable and a nice driver and the concept behind the dash toys is great. In my opinion the software was not properly debugged before it was put into production. What a shame.

The MyFord Touch/SYNC System has repeatedly malfunctioned. I have brought it back and forth to the dealer for servicing 7 times now. The screen/module has been replaced once, new sensors have been installed, and now a new body throttle has been installed during its most recent visit. The malfunctioning has included the radio, the heat/AC, turn signals, and Bluetooth. With the radio, sometimes it randomly shuts down on its own, or changes stations with changing volume. I have been stuck driving in the rain without defrosters and spent 100 degree days over the summer without AC. The turn signals sometimes will not click off and I will drive for miles with my right blinker stuck on. It is a random miracle for me to be able to make a call without the Bluetooth shutting down in the middle of the conversation. Most recently, this car has been randomly stalling. Sometimes I am in my driveway, other times I am in the middle of a hill. So convenient. For a car that is less than 6 months old, this is just completely unacceptable.

I made the mistake of giving Ford Motor Company the chance to make things right by applying for the Buy-Back Program. However, after weeks of useless phone calls and trips to the dealer, I was told that my car would not be bought back. I am now pursuing arbitration through the NYS Lemon Law. My "gripe" is this is ridiculous. The solution has been to throw random parts at the car, with the hope that one of them will resolve the issues.

My family has been customers for Ford for year but this will definitely be the LAST Ford purchased. I would not recommend Ford to my worst enemy. Customer satisfaction is clearly not a concern for this pathetic company.
