Edge

  • 80,000 miles
Driving in middle lane on highway during rush hour and suddenly lost acceleration. Thankfully I was able to avoid being rear ended and coast to shoulder of highway. After turning the car on anf off a couple of times, the car responded when I pushed accelerator. I was able to drive a 1/10 of a mile to a Lincoln dealer and leave my car there. After googling the issue, I see many people have had this issue with Ford, some have been recalled, some have had warranties extended to fix..(even a class action law suit exists!) but, I received no notification from Ford that this could be an issue. I also discovered that quite a few people say they were in accidents due to this issue.this is extremely dangerous and I narrowly escaped causing a multi car accident!! Ford needs to be forced to fix this issue immediately and to notify all those in danger before someone gets killed!!

Shift to park warning indicator keeps coming on when the vehicle is already in park and the vehicle is shutoff. This causes the whole cluster to light up and will eventually run the battery down leaving a person stranded. Ford is aware of this issue as it occurs on several models. They need to recall this defect in the shifter assembly.

Driving on the highway and I the yellow wrench light came on and I lost power. The vehicle wouldn't accelerate and felt very under powered. Thankfully I was able to pull over turn the vehicle off and restart it. After restarting the problem seemed to go away. This is a very dangerous scenario. Hopefully Ford makes it right and has a recall for this common problem.

Edge

  • 105,000 miles
2011 Ford Edge lost all power from the throttle while traveling on the interstate. Pulled over to the side of the road, had a yellow wrench light, no throttle response and rough running engine. Shut the vehicle off waited about 2 minutes and restarted everything was running fine. Drove the Edge about 10 miles on the interstate to my exit, after coming to a stop and ready to accelerate onto the highway I hit the gas and got out into the intersection and the yellow wrench light illuminated again and lost all power leaving me stranded in the middle of the intersection with traffic coming both ways. After traffic stopped and I was able to slowly move to the shoulder I shut the car down again and called a friend to come help me. After sitting for 10-20 minutes, my friend showed up and the Edge restarts and was able to drive home. Thankful my parents weren't driving or children weren't in the car and no accident was caused. After doing some research I've come to the conclusion that the throttle body is to blame and all the symptoms are the same. Apparently this is a common problem on the Edge, mustang, flex, Explorer and Lincoln mkx. Very disappointed and dangerous! great vehicle but poor quality of electronic parts I hope and pray this never happens to someone who panics while on the interstate. Vehicle will not be drove until this issue is fixed. Date of incident October 9th, 2015 approximately 7:45 and 8:00-8:15. Mileage approximately 105, xxx.

Alert stating "AWD off" and an image of a wrench suddenly came on while driving. Car sputtered and was unable to accelerate. Pulled over, turned car off and waited a few minutes. When turned back on, alert was off. Luckily I was on a residential street, but could pose a dangerous situation if on the highway or during traffic due to inability to accelerate or drive car.

1.a wrench shaped light came on from instrument panel, and having a sudden loss of power while driving. 2.the accelerator stops working or has extremely limited power. 3.after power off the vehicle and wait for 10-15 minutes to restart the vehicle, the wrench shaped light goes away and the vehicle in drivable condition again. But the problem could happen again within a day or in few days. It is really dangerous while during in highway or in busy roads when this problem occurred. The problem happens randomly. Sometimes it could happen several times in a day, sometimes it won┐T happen in a week. I called Ford dealers and they said to diagnostic it for $98 and only when the symptom happens they will be able to find the real cause. I searched online and it's a very common problem to 2010 -2013 Ford Edge owners.

Car driving at any speed will abruptly show yellow wrench, lose power and acceleration, steering becomes heavy and you have to fight to get the now shaking car to side of road. After switching off ignition, waiting ten seconds, it restarts and runs perfectly for another few weeks. Dealership cannot replicate issue. My research points in throttle body assembly issue. Has happened about 12 times in 18 months. Each of differing terror and danger, but no-one can help, despite others online having same issue.

During acceleration the car shakes, loses acceleration and cuts out. It has happened 4 times this week (in traffic) to the point where I had to kick on the hazards really quick and find my way to safety. Once it is cut off, put in park and restarted it acts like nothing was ever wrong. The only light that comes on it the yellow wrench on the dash with no other warnings or information.

Edge

  • 106,000 miles
I purchased the certified used Edge in October of 2013. I have a major problem with the vehicle it has lost all power on me twice in the last month. Once while sitting idle and just tonight while driving 65 mph on the highway. The wrench light came on and I had just enough time to put my hazard lights on to alert the vehicle approaching my vehicle. It took several minutes for me to get to the side of the highway as I was in the middle lane. I called for aaa to have the vehicle towed home. While waiting I turned the vehicle off. Just as the tow truck arrived I turned the vehicle back on and the wrench symbol was gone. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle so I still had it towed. I will be taking it to the shop on Monday morning. Hopefully they can find and fix the issue. This seems to be a very dangerous issue. I could have been rear ended or killed in a horrible accident. I have been searching online to see if this is a common problem and it seems as if many Ford Edge owners have experienced this problem. Then I checked for a recall and cannot seem to find one. I would hate for someone to be seriously injured before this problem is solved or dealt with by Ford motors.

While driving down the highway, my 2011 Ford Edge lost all acceleration and the AWD warning light came on with the lighted symbol of a wrench. I was almost rear ended by several cars before I could make it side of road. I had to shut vehicle completely down and restart. This problem continued for several more times. Ford needs to address this problem before several people get killed.

When I place the car in park, the P in the dashboard does not turn red and I get an error message in the dash that the car is not in park. If you are unable to get the gear shift to show the P in red, it runs your battery down. This is a common issue with the Ford Edge; however, the only ones covered to be fixed by the dealer are 2012 thru 2016. Why was the 2011 Ford Edge not included in the correction required of Ford dealers" will it be added to the list soon"
