problem #2

Edge Limited 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 165,000 miles

Transmission slips out of high gear into lower gear. Almost all the time. Does fine until about fourth gear and then starts slipping and then warms up I guess and works for a while and gets too hot and starts slipping again. Dealership solution is change the tranny. Sensors? Change the tranny. Fluid problems? Change the tranny.

I guess I should buy a twelve pack of trannies. or a Toyota...or a Kia

Edge SEL 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 73,000 miles

My husband and I were driving on a highway when our car starts to lose acceleration to the point where the car would not pass 40MPH. We would have to pull over, turn the car off, wait a few minutes, and try driving again, but we would never pick up enough speed.

We took our car to the mechanic where he recommended to change the battery. After changing the battery, it seemed the car was fixed, but about a few weeks later, the issues returned (but not as severe.)

We contribute it to an electrical error. We find that when the car is losing acceleration (even when we go "pedal to the metal," pressing the brake pedal tends to stop the issue.

I'm surprised to see no recall for this issue when there are so many complaints on this website! Ford needs to listen to its customers!!
