The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed and accelerating, the heater operated then became inoperable. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that coolant was leaking from the water pump and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 172,000.

Ford has the check engine light, which they refer it to "check engine soon" that comes on. There is a defect with Ford's capless fuel tank. Something about this issue causes the check engine light to light up non-stop! I am concerned that down the line, there will be numerous issues with the capless systems. It does not appear durable and will cost hundreds out of the pocket of owners whose warranty will expire after 2-3 years!!!!!!!!!!! a search on the internet does show consumers who have problems with this type of system, but then again there are thousands of those who are not computer savvy!
