The car was parked in my garage and when I went to start it up in the morning and closed the driver's door I could hear pieces of shattered glass from the rear window falling into the car. I checked the rear of the car and noticed that the rear window had shattered sometime over the weekend. Safelite Autoglass replaced the rear window at a cost of $470 and luckily it was covered by my auto insurance. I was not aware of any problem with the window up until the time it shattered.

I work steady night shift...got home at 7:00 am parked my car and nothing wrong with the car. My wife and I went out around 2:00 pm in her car...we were gone about an hour...we were standing at the back of my car chatting with my neighbour and I heard a loud pop and then I was hit in the face with flying glass. This happened on Friday Mar 3rd 2023. I called Ford of Canada and the woman on the other end was a real bitch she has no idea on how to treat a customer what so ever. So I called Cambrian Ford in Sudbury Ontario on Mar 14th 23 and they said that they would get a tech to call me right me right away.I haven't heard a goddamn thing yet... FRIGGIN FORD WHAT A F*CKING OUTFIT... I THINK I'M GOING BACK TO GMC

Driving home from work tonight at 5pm and heard a loud pop like a gunshot and read window started crumbling.... roads were clear no one outside just me and the crumbling window.... I had the rear defrost on since the windows were all fogged up. doesn't make sense why the window would shatter using the defrost....

Let me add my comments to the list. On 12/22/19, I was backing out of my garage and I turned on the rear wiper. It stopped midway on the glass, so I got out of the car to look at the rear window and it had shattered, mostly into the car. I called my insurance company which used Safelite Auto Glass to repair. They were not available until 12/24/19 in the AM to do the repair. I'll be contacting my dealer 12/29/19 and find out what's going on? Never in over 60 years have I ever had this happen.

rear window shattered rear window shattered rear window shattered

I was just driving to town, had put on the defrost and nothing unusual. 20 minutes into my drive I heard a loud pop and then a lot crackling noise, I pulled over and could not see out of my rear windshield. Got out and took a bunch of pics and what a disaster. There was no one on the road with me, nothing hit my car - no impact whatsoever. This is completely unacceptable that it would just shatter like this.

I am glad I made it home very slowly and now it's parked. It's Saturday so no one is open, but the one person I spoke with said the glass is not available in our state, Hawaii, and has to get shipped over here from the mainland. I'm looking at 2-3 weeks before we can even get the glass on island to get installed. Unacceptable. Is there a recall her in the US for this?

My vehicle was parked in my driveway after just running some errands and running my car through the automatic car wash earlier in the day. Unloaded my groceries from the back and never noticed any cracks in the rear window. It wasn't until two hours later when my husband came home and brought my attention to the broken rear window. He thinks it was the automatic car wash that tapped the windshield wiper just enough to start a small enough crack that wouldn't be noticed right away until the gate was opened and closed several times.

Auto started my car for work this morning around 7:25 am. I got in and as I started to drive away from my driveway I turned on my rear defroster. As I got to a second stop sign I heard a pop. I freaked out and wasn't sure what the noise was. I looked in my mirrors and realized my rear window was shattered??? I pulled over. I COULDN'T believe what I just saw. My back window was just shattered!!!

I made a call to my husband and went straight to my ford dealer. As I pulled in the service guy said I have to call my insurance company and file a claim with them THAT IT LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE HIT MY WINDOW I explained right away AGAIN I just got in and turned on my rear defroster, no one hit me I was at a stop sign when I heard a pop. He ordered me to go around to the body shop side and speak with someone there. As I go to the other side I speak to another guy who right away says this is not a hit, it's a blowout - look how there's a bubble going up like out of the car, not into the car like a hit.

I looked and definitely seen what he was talking about he asked me to go around to the service again and to service my car so I had to go back speak to this rude guy again who I refused to deal with who I made sure to let him know he has no experience since he couldn't tell and how he just blew me off and sent me off to my car ins company. I'm being told that they will call me to let me know if the warranties will be covering this damage etc... but from what I'm reading online I'm seeing this is not just happening to me so I will definitely fight them so they can replace/ fix at no charge to me.

I was at work and we heard a loud bang, so I went outside to see my rear window shattered. Called out a guy to fix it and he couldn't remove the rear spoiler so he took it to Sands Ford in Pottsville, and they removed the spoiler. So the glass guy went to replace it, only to find out that Sands Ford in Pottsville PA had lifted the hatch and got glass in the bottom of the hatch so they could not open rear hatch. They took it back to Sands Ford where they destroyed my back hatch!! It is all scratched up the back hatch and the panel is not attached to the car either. The back handle is also broken. It looks like my 13 year old cousin took it apart!

So $1070.00 dollars later, I am waiting on clips to come in at Sands Ford for them to continue to repair it. I did call Ford motors and basically called Sands Ford out on them, and I made Sands Ford aware of that too! I will not take or buy another vehicle from that Ford dealership!!

Went to drive the vehicle tonight. Rear window had shattered. Nothing wrong with it earlier today. I was totally surprised and baffled which is why I checked online. Then saw that others had the same issue. Rear window in shatters. No reason why but this will cost me out of pocket.

rear window shattered

Went to get something out of my car last night and when I closed my door I heard a pop and crumbling noise. Rear window exploded inward for no reason. Only just under 20,000 miles on my Edge and in excellent condition. Dealer says they cannot do anything about it. Seeing several complaints online about this happening to multiple Ford vehicles. They need to be held accountable!!!

Car was stationary at a red light in beautiful downtown Southampton. Rear window just shattered. Nothing above, behind or in front of the car. Scared the crap out of me! Fortunately glass held together while I drove 8 km to my Ford dealer. They politely said it wasn't their problem, take car to local glass repair shop.

They were most helpful (Go Glass - Port Elgin). They managed to tape the glass together (both sides) so I could use the car. They reported that it would take up to 2 MONTHS to obtain replacement glass from Ford, so I authorized use of a non-Ford replacement. Glass was delivered & installed within a couple of days. Insurance paid the costs involved, but now my deductible will automatically rise from $100 to $500 through no fault of mine!

Thank you Ford!!!! Why was Ford quoting such a long delivery of their replacement glass?? Has there been a epidemic of these problems?

rear window shattered

I had just returned from my grandson's basketball practice and was headed back out to go to yoga. I got in the car and shut my door - at that point I heard a loud noise - and looked back to see a big hole in the middle of my rear windshield! As I watched it proceeded to shatter into a million pieces, some of which were dropping into the back of my vehicle! It wasn't cold out, there was noone around - it made no sense what so ever! This just happened this evening, so I haven't had the opportunity to call the dealership to see what this means for my pocketbook. I am certainly glad I wasn't driving somewhere when it decided to explode! I hope this becomes a recall issue through Ford before someone does get hurt!

It was a cold morning as I started my car. On this particular day I didn't use my rear defroster. As I pulled out of the parking lot I hear a loud bang and noticed my rear windshield had completely shattered. This vehicle was a in great shape with no cracks, scratches, or chips on the windshield at all prior to this happening.
