Escape 4WD 6-cyl

The tire jack was only used 1 time to change a flat on the right rear of the vehicle, when I used it to jack up the vehicle the scissor jack cracked at the threads where the tube holds the screw mechanism. The material used to make the tire jacks is defective and can cause the jack to fail and fall on a person changing the tire. I went to the dealer and they said it is no longer under warranty and I would have to buy another. It costs $55. This is unfair since the jack was only used 1 time and it was used in accordance to the instructions on the tire well cover. The material is cheap "pot metal" and will not withstand the weight of the Escape during jacking up the vehicle, before the tube that holds the screw mechanism cracks, thus causing the screw to strip out and the jack to collapse under the weight of the vehicle.
