Escape ES V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 83,796 miles

My son was involved in a rear ender caused by the engine shutting down, thanks to the negligence of Ford not informing us of a serious recall of "Power Train Automatic Transmission Control Modul" Manufacturer Recall Number 04S13 back in 2004. Consequence of this recall if not completed noted by Transport Canada "should the engine stall a vehicle crash could occur". And that is exactly what happened to my son, he went to brake, the engine and oil light came on and his car smacked into the car in front of him, totalling that drivers car. My son being a new drive his insurance premium has now increased by 55% and it wasn't even due to his negligence, it was all to do with the manufacturers lack of information on the recall. This accident could have been prevented. And it could have been even more serious ie: could have killed a pedestrian and/or could have killed himself. Imagine if he was coming down a steep hill or winding road, it could have been really ugly. All because we were never notified of the recall.

So we ask any owner of a Ford Escape to please have your car dealership do a recall inspection so you can avoid a serious accident as well. Have them check for Manufacturer Recall Number 04S13.

Escape XL 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 160,000 miles

Engine runs very rough when about to shift or going up hills. Might be transmission problems. Would not recommend this vehicle. Transmission shudders when shifting, Loud clunking coming from engine mounts when going over bumps. poor quality
