Escape XLS 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 112,000 miles

I bought this vehicle at a used car dealership 5 years ago. I brought it back 5 times right after I bought it. I told them what I wanted fixed before I purchased it. The check engine light would not go off. The mechanic says that all I have to do is clean around the gas cap because that will make the light go off. Well, he did that and it worked for a few days and came back on again. I brought it back and he had a tune-up done, but not a complete one, just changed one spark plug. It came back to me and the SUV kept holding back on acceleration and the light went back on. I brought it back again and he said they will check it out and changed another spark plug, and then the acceleration problem stopped and the check engine light went out, and after 5 times of returning the vehicle for repair, I was told that his boss said he can't repair it anymore for free since it had no warranty to begin with.

So, I lived with the problem of the check engine light on now for 5 years and now the engine choking back on acceleration is back again. No one knows what causes it, I just know that the only time it stopped doing those things was when the spark plug was changed or the battery was disconnected. The part about cleaning around the gas cap never did nothing for it, though he said he fixed it that way. It never worked for me. Guess I should be able to stand there while they're working on it to confirm what they actually did to it.

Escape XLT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 120,000 miles

The check engine light has been on in my Ford Escape for over a year. Last time it was in the shop they ran it though all the tests and said they couldn't find a reason for the light to be on. But if I wanted the would do further testing for $250.00 to diagnosis the problem. and that wasn't the price to find AND fix the problem that was just to find!!

Escape XLS V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 107,000 miles

The car got stuck in reverse and would not switch gears. I dared NOT to send it to the dealer, as they would charge me the cost of a heart transplant to repair it. At 107000 miles, I didn't have a cow. It got it fixed, but now the damn engine light is on with a faulty reading to check cylinder #3. I had all 6 cylinders replaced with all the bells and whistles that go along with each, but the engine light is still on. I've tried everything imaginable to correct it. No mechanic I've gone to, even the dealer, know what the problem is. It keeps giving the same reading on that cylinder. I don't know what to do. I can't even get a good trade in deal with that light on. I guess its true what they say about FORD, "Fix Or Repair Daily"...cuz that's what I've been doing...Anyone know how to fix this?
