Escape XLT 2.3L V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 78,888 miles

I bought this car back in 2013. it had 52000 miles and it was a decent car (definitely not worth the 12k I'm paying on it, but i needed a car and this was my dream vehicle). I had work done on it that came out to almost 1800 bucks now the transmission is slipping and I'm 100% positive that it had nothing to do with normal wear and tear. I want to know if this is a factory defect and who I can hold responsible. I've emailed ford and I'm awaiting a response. Anybody had a similar issue? what was your verdict?

Escape

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70,000 miles

Ford totally knows about these faulty transmissions that were put into the 2005 Escapes and they need to replace them with a recall. My overdrive dummy light just starts flashing and then my car starts riding terribly, no power, doesn't shift right. And half of the time it won't go into reverse at all. I have to shut it off and start it again anywhere from 1 to 4 times and then the overdrive light will go off and it will go into reverse. This is so ridiculous and Ford knows and HAS KNOWN about theses transmission problems. Also, when I get down to less than 1/4 tank of gas, the overdrive light and transmission issues start again.
