Escape LX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 99,419 miles

The engine randomly revs when using the A/C. Ford wants $120 just to put the car on diagnostics. One service rep at Ford dealership said it's most likely $#$^&$$ and would cost $1500. to fix. If he already has a solution than this must be a common problem with Fords which leads me to question why it is not a warranty or recall issue.

I see other people on here with acceleration issues. I wonder if these issues only occur while the A/C system is switched on. I feel this is a real safety issue as the car can lurch forward while stopping or stopped at a stop sign or suddenly accelerate while driving. I recall Toyota being responsible when similar instances happened with their vehicles. Ford appears to be looking for a cash grab at the service department as an answer to this problem.
