Ford decided to save the cost of 2 bolts and 2 nuts by gluing the inner latch to the rear glass.
In the later years they re-designed it using the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
Why would a person have to pay $1200+ for a whole new rear door glass when there is nothing wrong with the glass. Ford could not or would not supply a tube of the adhesive.
I refused to pay $1200 for new glass and vigorously complained.
Our service advisor agreed with me but it was beyond his control.
He said he has a slightly scratched rear glass in stock with the new design using the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
The dealership gave that to us and we appreciated that.
Same old story. Every time company decides to save 50 cents, it turns into a costly nightmare for buyers.
