problem #1

Oct 042014

Escape Limited 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 96,445 miles

On 4 October, 2014 @ approx. 1:00 P.M. E.T., while I was driving home from Sam's Club, the gas pedal suddenly went to the floor & stayed there. I was lucky to be in the parking lot at the time, because I can walk faster than I was able to drive. Investigation revealed the braided throttle cable broke off where it connects to the pedal linkage. Fortunately, I was only a few miles from home & not stranded somewhere else, & miles away.

Had the car towed to dealer, where it is currently awaiting repair. Would really like to know why the cable broke. Has to be a design flaw. Research found numerous complaints of same problem, from all over the continent. There were numerous other complaints of sticking & the ETB failure. The problems should be a factory fix, at no cost to the customer. 2008 Escape had the most complaints, of a 10 year period. 96,445 miles on the car, at the time.
