a small rock took out radiator a small rock took out radiator

The car is 4 months old...I got home and hear a hissing noise coming out from the hood. I open it up, and sure enough the tranny radiator/AC condenser cooling unit (mounted IN FRONT of the radiator) is hissing. I see where the hole is, and the rock that hit it was smaller than a piece of corn....brilliant engineering. I call Ford, and the service adviser tells me its a road hazard/nonwarranty item. Would not give me the price of the part UNTIL the service adviser is able to check it out. DUH.......I know whats broke...Then I call the Ford.com complaint line......go through 5 minutes of voice menu bs before it tells me they are closed.....feeling postal.......

If you have a fragile important part of an engine cooling system, why don't you design a front end air scoop/baffle to force air over the cooling fins so that rocks can't hit it directly? Lord knows there's enough rocks out there, eh Mr. Windshield?
