Escape XLT FWD 3.0L V6 Dohc 24v

  • Automatic transmission
  • 95,000 miles

My check engine light came on one week after I bought it (used). When I came to a stop, it would idle really low and sometimes when I'd try to accelerate, it wouldn't move for seconds and when it finally did, it would jerk really bad. This happened intermittently. I took it to the mechanic and the codes pulled were for the cam sensor. Flash forward a few years and now they're telling me that I either needs to spend $4800 to replace the cam heads/sensor or spend $6800 for a whole new engine.

Escape Limited 3.0L, /V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 63,296 miles

Diagnostics at Ford dealership pulled 2 codes: P0011 and P0012 = T.S.B. report # 11-12-5 per Ford Gresham, Oregon dealership visit on 04-02-2013. I also had a 2nd scope performed (free scope, no charge to me, whereas Ford dealer charged me $55.00 bucks!!) by an independent auto repair service in Gresham, OR, which pulled the same 2 codes!

What makes me upset, very VERY upset, is this TSB report # 11-12-5 is NOT listed under any Ford Escapes, model years from 2009 through model year 2011 ...!!....? "TSP report # 11-12-5 states it supersedes TSB #11-11-18 to update the Service Procedure and Part List." Gresham Ford said its a limited warranty covered up to 60,000 miles AND I HAD APPROX 63,296 miles recorded when I took my vehicle to Gresham Ford! It is time to contact Ford Motor Customer Service/Vehicle Complaint to discuss my 2009 Ford Escape, major $$-cost (to me) repair this engine problem and I expect Ford Motor Company to cover this engine repair cost in full!!

Update from Jun 19, 2013: I contacted Ford customer service and complained to them asking why this happened with my vehicle that only had less than 63,000 miles which is not high mileage for a 4 year old car; After a few dialogs with the Ford CSR, Ford agreed to split the costs with me plus also picked up the cost for me having to get a rental car for 2 days while my car was fixed. Ford would not pay 1/2 the cost even though I wanted to go to a private mechanic and would only agree to split the repair costs if I took my car to a Ford dealership. I did take it to a local Ford dealership in Gresham, OR; they repaired the car; replaced the 2 solenoids. Outcome was OK BUT would of still preferred Ford Motor Co. to pay the repairs in full considering my vehicle was less than 3,000 miles beyond the 60,000 mile warranty. No matter, this expense still cost me a few hundred dollars out of my own pocket! Would like to keep informed if any other 2009 Ford Escape owners experience this same engine problem.

Escape XLT 3.0L V6

Ford Dealer was no help and Ford was no help . They did charge me 99.00 for a diagnosis and they had issued a TSB on the repair. Because they were so inconsiderate, I took the car to a locAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE the car was repaired. This is a hoot . After this repair Ford recommends 10w-40 oil instead of 5 w 20 as per their book. This should have been in their book to start with. Needless to say , I will not buy another Ford and will not buy from Long Lewis in Hoover ever again.

Took to Dealer where it was purchased to get diagnosis for $99.00 . They found TSB 11-12-05 which stated has codes for VCTS , may need replaced could need heads replaced . Major repair and cost for such low miles no help from Ford per dealer. This vehicle was more than $ 30,000 new and is a major disappointment. I bought it because Ford took no government bail out money and I tried to show my appreciation I am very disappointed in Ford and my nearly new auto. My next auto will not be of American make.

Vehicle has"Easy Fuel" capless filler neck. Check Fuel filler inlet message came on for a while then check engine light came on. Had reset then came on again.Local garage hooked up diagnostics and claimed fuel filler neck has a crack and wants $360.00 to repair. Took vehicle to Autozone which does free diagnostics, hooked up tool and printed a report that stated there could be 1 of 4 possible causes one possibility that there is a large vacuum leak at the engine. The other issue that really gripes me is that I like to do some of my own maintenance so I purchased a PCV valve from my local Ford dealer to replace on the weekend when i was doing routine maintenance i.e changing oil and filter etc and found out that i couldn't get to it because it is hidden under the intake manifold which has to be removed just to replace the PCV valve? The local garage wanted $273.00 for this!!!! No more Escapes for me!!

Escape XLT 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 11,400 miles

I am not happy with this vehicle. When I first brought it home it felt like the transmission was stiff or tight. Several months later there was a recall for the transmission that supposedly was a software fix. Even after the software update the transmission still does not shift easy. The vehicle has no acceleration (or pick up). It is terrible going up a hill. And now at 11,400 miles the engine light comes on and the CAM phasers in the engine need to be replaced. I have owned lots of new vehicles in life and have never ran into issues until about 100,000 miles or more. I am really disappointed.
