About 2 years ago, my battery died. The Ford service manager told me how to get it in to neutral to get it out of my garage to tow it to Ford. Thanks, Ford, for placing the battery where I can't get to it to replace it. Less than 2 years later, the car battery was dead. Being the 61 year old daughter of a Ford Tractor dealer, I put on my charger, and made an appointment to have my car serviced. I was told that there was no problem with the less than 2 year old battery, and no problem with the alternator. The kid at the Valley Ford in Huron said I must be leaving something on in my car.

I walked away knowing he was wrong. That was $10 for nothing, and 2 weeks later my car would not start. Fast forward to 12/31/2019. I am sick, I need to go to Urgent Care, get in my car and see the weird system info... not updates, and definitely not normal. First it said No Ford Key, but I had it in my hand. Then, strange things happened and nothing would turn off. I got out to attach my charger. Since then, nothing has changed, except I no longer get anything when I sit in the driver's seat. The charger has not helped. And I know on New Years Eve, Valley Ford will not call, and I will be stuck for days until ??... And, I don't remember how to remove the bezel, to switch something under it, to put it into neutral, or to have it towed...

Call me sick AND STUCK!

I drove the car to three different locations this morning and didn't have any problems starting the car. One of the locations was a hardware store where I had to buy a replacement bulb for a rear brake light. When I returned home, I left the rear hatch open so I could replace the light. After replacing the bulb, I tried to start the car and it didn't start - except that all the dash lights etc came on. It started when I boosted the battery. This is the second time in less than a month that the car has had to be boosted. After the first occasion, I had a mechanic check the battery and it checked out fine.

Battery draining for no apparent reason leaving me unable to start my car without a jump start. Had the battery, alternator and starter checked, all good. Something is draining the battery but nothing is left on in the car. After driving it to work, I shut it off and almost immediately the display shows: powering off to save battery. However, I guess it doesn't power off quick enough because when I try to restart it, the battery is dead.

Update from Sep 30, 2016: Had an appointment at the shop however the morning of the appt my car would not start, wouldn't even take a jump start. I replaced the battery and so far it's been starting fine but I still think something is wrong and it will eventually drain this new battery. I read about a recall of the Body Control Module in my exact car which was causing a drain on the battery but when I talked to the shop, they checked my VIN and said MY VEHICLE was not included in that recall even though my car was experiencing the exact same issues.

We purchased the car used from North County Ford in San Diego in March. It had 53,000 miles on it at the time of purchase. The battery was dead on the lot but the salesman said that it was just sitting for a long time and this kind of thing happens all the time. I should have known better.

Since then the battery has died at least 5 times. After the second time it died I took it to the dealer and they told me the battery was bad and sold me a new one for $120. A week later it died again. I have had is back to the dealer twice and they can find nothing wrong with it.

Two days ago my wife took it down to San Diego. I made sure the battery was fully charged before she left. It sat over night for one night and when she went to start it the following afternoon the battery was dead again!!! Good thing the valets had a jump starter. When she got it home I hooked it up to my Noco Smart charger and the battery had a full charge.

This is ridiculous!!

I have noticed one thing odd. After the car is shut off and sitting, all four of the instrument console needles will vibrate for a few seconds every few minutes. I am sure that this has something to do with it. Question is why are they doing that?

This is probably the 5th time our 2013 Escape battery has died. The first time it happened the dealer sold us a new battery. I have since concluded that my old battery was probably fine, as is my current battery.

About twice per month (I have yet to find any pattern), something electronic does not turn off in the car, even after complete engine shutoff, door lock, and alarm set. I have confirmed that sometimes the radio does not shut off, and I catch this one almost every time (thus preventing battery drain). But sometimes I do not catch it, or something else remains on that is behind the dash (perhaps the main computer doesn't power off or go into minimum power drain mode).

The worst thing about this problem is that it is by all appearances random. The end result is that 4 or more times a year I have to jump start my 2013 Escape.

Escape XLT 1.6L

After being parked a day and a half, the battery was dead on a relatively new car. Over the next 15 months the battery went dead more times. Since November of 2015 until today January 2016, the battery has failed 10 times.

IF I had not purchased a little emergency jump start battery I would have had to call the road side assistance each time but the small jumper was enough to get it started again. One time it failed while I went into 7/11 after driving for about 20 min. It was just flat for no reason.

Update from Jan 23, 2016: It happened again last night. The car was on the charger all day, drove to dinner, then stopped at a couple of stores. After the 3rd store, the battery was "dead". I jumped started it and drove home. THEN started it 4 times, and it cranked like King Kong. This makes me now think the problem is in the module that tells the car whether the battery is OK or needs to be in the "BATTERY SAVER MODE", and not the battery. So as typical Ford electrics SUCK!

Sold my Lexus RX350 for this car ( BIG MISTAKE), will probably get rid of this junk and go back to European

Engineered cars. I have owned European vehicles for the last 25 Years and never had any issues with any of

them, which included Infiniti, Lexus, Honda. The only other North American JUNK i owned was a 2007 Jaguar

XK Convertible and that piece of Crap had the same problems.

I now have learned my lesson about owning these pieces of GARBAGE, I will never go back to CHINA'S FINEST EVER AGAIN. As a final note regarding the Jag I owned, we paid over $120,000.00 Dollars for this Junk and I could only get $55,000.00 when I sold it. These cars are build poorly and the Value ( or should I say No Value) is exactly what you get when you spend your hard earned Money ( SCREW NORTH AMERICAN/CHINESE MADE ANYTHING (FU).

Unsatisfied to say the least. Bad Ford!

Escape LX

This car has less than 5,000 miles on it and I have to jump start it very often. When I first got the car, after the third time the battery went dead, I returned it to the dealership. They told me I got a bad battery from the factory. They installed a new battery. A week later the same thing happened. They told me I did not drive the car far enough after getting the new battery. Why they wouldn't install a fully charged new battery is beyond me??

I took the car on a 400 mile trip. The week after I returned the battery was dead again the next time I went to drive it. They keep telling me the battery is fine. There must be something draining the battery! I had to buy a heavy duty jump starter, and what is really maddening is I need to keep this jump starter in the front seat with me all the time! Otherwise when the battery dies, I need to climb over the seats to get to the back. The tail gate will not open without power, nor will any doors except the drivers door. Even if I climb into the back seat, I cannot open the door to get out.

The dealership has been very rude to me and has essentially told me if I am not happy with their service I can take it to another dealership. They don't want to look too hard for a problem because it is under warranty.

I find it really curious that I had a "bad battery " in a brand new car, yet when the dead battery problem happened again, they tell me I must be doing something wrong. I have been to the dealership 4 times now. The only time they actually did anything was the first time. Now they just blame me and act rude. I even called them to come look at the car when it is dead in my driveway, they refuse. I live a mile or so from the dealership. Once I jump start it, when I take it to them, it starts up again. Basically the car cannot sit for more than 3 days without being started, or the battery dies.
