Escape SE Ecoboost

  • Automatic transmission
  • 46,400 miles

Started to go somewhere and pulled out of my garage and the brake pedal was so stiff I couldn't get it to press. I put the car into drive, I thought that may fix the pedal, nope. The pedal was so stiff, it wouldn't stop the car. I had to put the car into park to get it to stop. I called a Ford dealer service department, of course they have no idea since this is a sporadic thing that happens. I will have to leave my car there, pay for a rental, while they try to get the car to duplicate the problem. The car is out of warranty, so probably won't be covered under the powertrain warranty. Ford needs to do a RECALL on this problem and fix these cars. I am going to get killed in this car.

Escape Titinium

The brakes have been squeaking for about 6 weeks. 3 or 4 weeks ago they have been very hard to apply when 1st backing out of the garage. They seem to readjust after driving a very short distance. This only happens when we first drive the car after it sitting in the garage for 2 nights. The most recent occurrence we did not use the car for 3 days. That time it took about .5 to .75 miles for the brakes to return to normal. The car is currently at the dealer for the 2nd time. My brother, who is a mechanic suspects the power booster is leaking as it sits and the brakes lose vacuum. Still waiting to hear from the dealer after providing this information.
