problem #2

Escape Hybrid 2.3L

  • Manual transmission
  • 75,000 miles

This has been happening at least 7 times in past 6 months. after about one hour on the highway at moderate speed, the engine just stops working. After pulling over to the shoulder, turning the ignition key off and waiting 30 seconds, the engine will start again once ignition key is turned again. After 30 minutes of driving, it will do the same thing again.

Escape Hybrid

  • Automatic transmission
  • 56,000 miles

Jan 4, 2010 was the second time my Ford Escape Hybrid died unexpectedly while driving- the engine killed and there was no way to start it up. I waited about 20 minutes and then it resatrted only to die agin in a few minutes. I had to have it towed to the dealer. This was the second time this happened, the first time was in August 09. Since Jan 4, then it has happened 4 more times for a total of five times. Incredibly dangerous because there is no warning and stops in the middle of traffic before I can even pull over! The dealer has replaced everything from the water pump to the 12V battery to the master computer and it still dies without warning. It is still under 75,000 mile extended warranty and completely paid for. What are my rights under the lemon law?
