My 1997 Ford Expedition has been having serious electrical problems. I have had the GEM mod replaced as well as the fuse box. It seems as though water is leaking into these parts from the windshield. I am still having these problems with a family of six, I am concerned with the prospects of an electrical fire or something else. We have had instances where the car lost power while on the highway, this could cause a serious accident. Please talk to Ford. This seems like a very common problem!

I just purchased a 1997 Ford expadition, I only put 3000 miles on it and one of the spark plugs blew out of the head. I called Ford and the said they have no records of any problems like this. After doing a little reserch on the internet F150online.com I found that this is a common problem. I cant afford to replace the head, Ford should be made to aknowledge that they have a problem. Dave

While driving vehicle engine check light comes on and remains on. This causes vehicle to act as if it's going to stall out when its idling too long at stop lights or stop signs. Has happened so far 5 times. Had taken to dealership 4 times, each time mechanic replaced a coil pack. Light would go out, but after 2 weeks would return again.

We were informed by ritar Ford that the reason the engine" check light came on, was caused by water dripping from the air conditioner line onto the oxygen sensor. We were also informed that T.S.B.# 00-1-7 would alleviate the problem by re-routing the line so the water would not drip on the oxygen sensor. However even though we purchased E.S.P. (extended warranty protection) this repair was not covered because we exceeded 36,000 miles. I feel as we were "ripped-off being asked to pay for a obvious engineering shortfall by Ford Motor Company. Aside from the engineering problem, a pontental enviromental problem is possible due to the failure of the oxygen sensor.

Brakes were squeaky and felt spongy, addressed twice, rotors were out by -0.05. Engine exihibit 'piston slap' documented from day one, dealer stated it may be attributed to octane level, informed by second dealer to downshift, that it will not harm engine, road test by technician diagnosed the PCM was adjusting to load!!nowhere to secure child seat in third row.heater replaced twice with windows fogging creating poor visibility.second row single seat fell back upon acceleration, knocking passenger's head back, was stuck and would not reset until pushed very, very hard. Interior dash and headliner squeaks, horseshoe molding tabs around stereo wore through and rattles
