Both external rear view mirrors with built-in turn signal indicators have lost teh reflective surface. It seems that teh 'silvering' on the back side of the mirror has peeled off. Night visibility is near zero. Daytime is not much better. The defect has resulted in a couple near misses with respect to an accident. Ford will not cover under (extended) warranty. I reported it in 2001.

Exterior mirror is peeling, causing almost zero visibility. The manufacturer refuses to repair under warranty. These mirrors are heated with the turn signals embedded.
