The truck was just out of extended warranty mileage wise (76,000 miles), and it started making this whining noise; to me it sounded like the torque converter; I changed the fluid again (just changed it at 60,000 miles). Still whining. So I take it to the dealer and of course they put it on the scanner and find nothing. Then they want to change the fluid and filter for $250 I tell them I just did that so they say their next step is to remove the transmission and tear it down to see what is wrong at the price of $650 and that doesn't include reinstalling it if I didn't want them to fix it. So after they have had my truck all day they still can't tell me what was wrong with it, and they charged me $90 for all that. Needless to say I took it somewhere else, and get this they drove 50 yards and were able to tell me what the problem was and didn't charge nothing for diagnosis. It ended up having to be completely rebuilt; the pump went out, planetaries were shot and the torque converter also. I even emailed ford directly with this asking for a little help. There only response was sorry our records show your vehicle is no longer under warranty, but if we can help you in the future please let us know. Yea right! After all this and some of the other stories I've heard sounds like my next truck will be a Toyota.
