problem #2

May 252015

Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

After all the other "minor" issues, like a leaking torque converter, now it starts stuttering and behaving badly on acceleration and deceleration. Took it in and Bob Edwards says it was a failing #8 cylinder spark plug and/or coil. Cost upwards of $200 to fix it. Has been OK since then.

Last night while driving, the Advance Trac light came on in conjunction with a loud beep (like the low fuel sound) and a loss of power. The engine did not turn off, however, for that few seconds it felt like the car just stopped and I had to struggle to get it to the side of the road. I turned off the engine, turned it back on and it drove fine until the next morning. The Advance Trac kept going on and off, telling me to check it, beeping. And then this evening it lost power again.
