Expedition Limited 5.4L Triton V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 93,000 miles

This is rated as fairly significant due to the park plug problems associated with the engine. I brought it in to have the coils changed, and they disturbed the plugs in the process. The result was me picking up a truck that was running SIGNIFICANTLY worse than it did when I dropped it off. The place I brought it to then said they don't want to deal with the plugs because of the concern of them breaking. I then had to pay for a tow to get it brought to a Ford dealership. Still currently waiting on the outcome....

Update from Apr 28, 2015: Upon bringing the truck to the Ford dealership, multiple coils had to be replaced, along with the coil replacement was, due to the disturbance of the plugs, the replacement of all my plugs. 3 broke upon extraction causing an extra $150 to remove. The dealership seemed like it was no big deal, but obviously it is a big enough problem that Ford designed and manufactures a tool to correct this "non issue." The total setback between the 2 places the truck had to go was close to $1500.

This model has coil issues. Service record shows it has happen before. It happen to me too. The number two and four coil failed three month ago and last week the number 6 failed too. I had already change the number two and four coil last time spend $600+ and last week the dealer suggest to change the rest coils that cost me $1042. Ford should pay for this. Watch out for Ford car....
