paint bubbling and chipping off

Purchased this used 2013 Expedition about a year and a half ago. I was excited to get a new Expedition with some more bells and whistles as my last Expedition was a 1998 and we had that for 15 years! That was a great vehicle. About a month ago while washing it I noticed these bubbles on the paint in the back near the hatch. Looking further it was also along the seams of the back hatch, top and bottom. I did some internet searching and this seems to be quite a problem due to the aluminum and how the paint was put on. So I popped the hood and top and bottom seams here are just as bad. I immediately made an appointment with my local Ford dealership. I was there seriously less than 5 minutes, they said they fix quite a few of these and gave me an 800 number to call. No help at all from them. So I started e-mails with the Ford dealership we purchased the vehicle from along with sending pictures. Dealership is 46 miles away from my home (not easy to always get it out there). They checked into it, said they talked to Ford and because the vehicle is over mileage would not cover anything. Of course extended warranty covers nothing also :( yes, this vehicle is over 3 year, 36,000 miles, but it isn't even 4 years old yet! I never spent a dime on my last Expedition's body, no problems, no rust, nothing! This dealership also said they have seen problems like this and Ford is not good at covering this problem so it comes out of the customer's pocket. Seriously? SO BOTH FORD AND THE BODY SHOPS ARE BENEFITING FROM THIS ONE? LOOKS LIKE IT TO ME! The 2nd dealership estimated the cost around $1400 to fix plus lost time of a vehicle to have it in the shop. I NEVER expected purchasing my new vehicle to have to put body work into it within 1 1/2 years of having it! I take excellent care of my vehicles, they are maintained on schedule, kept in the garage and regularly washed (why do you think I owned my last one 15 years)! My family and I have been loyal Ford owners for many, many years but apparently that means nothing! Pisses me off a lot that I need to stick that kind of money into my new vehicle when there is already a known problem that the Ford dealerships and Ford already know about!!!

I have been after Ford for almost a year now, and cannot believe the issue is still ongoing. Everyone keeps pointing the finger at someone else. They had offered up a solution from Ford Canada, but the dealer with the body shop was not "my" dealer so they would not share their portion as Ford wanted to split it with the dealer. My dealer had originally sent me off to the other dealer because they have no body shop. The body shop manager even pointed out where the issue was and says it was happening with almost all expeditions with aluminum tailgates and showed me damage occuring on the inside where the bubbling was happening all around the inside lip, something I had not even yet noticed or suspected or imagined. The outside paint is starting to come off and bubble all over as well and looks terrible. Since then I have been looking at any expedtion or navigator and notice that every single one has paint coming off of the aluminum. Ford should stop the run around and charging the dealer back and just fix this already at their cost because it is a real piss off to those of us who have one.I am still fighting but having trouble getting the Ford Canada President email - Dianne Craig. I note on the web that many have had this fixed by Ford, yet everyone seems to deny such when you contact customer service. Crazy.
