About three months ago our park assist camera activated as usual, but was very distorted. It has rapidly gotten worse, and about a week ago it finally gave us an error message and wouldn't turn on at all. It's been diagnosed by the dealer, and we have a repair planned, but the camera itself is on back order from another Ford recall related to the Mustangs for the same issue. We will have it replaced, but my 15 year old Escalade camera still works just fine, and so did the camera on my 2011 Genesis when we sold it last year.

A five year old car with just under 100k miles shouldn't have a failed camera already. It's mostly inexpensive to fix myself, but something as simple as proper shielding and waterproofing seems to be too much for Ford to handle, as this is occurring across several models of their vehicles (F-150's, Mustangs, Expeditions, etc.). It's a simple fix and is sometimes just the connections getting dirt/moisture in them, but ours appears to be the camera itself.
