This is shameful! The rust is outrageous! I am a new Explorer Sport 4x4 owner(I also own a 1996 Mustang great condition...STILL) I did not know that the Explorer had so many rust complaints!! My Explorer is a second vehicle that I use back and forth for work and travel. I do not want my Explorer to be a big ole rust box on wheels! I will do all that is necessary to make sure Ford knows from me that I charge them with negligence regardless if they don't recall these vehicles for rust. I will make sure my voice is heard! Repeatedly! I am waiting for an estimate for repairs of this awful rust. He needed more time to see how much it would cost me because of how bad the rust is. I got one quote from a repair shop (in Crest hill) that repaired the door on my Mustang years back and the guy was very negative. He didn't want to even touch my truck! He told me it would cost over $2000 and to take it to a ma&pa shop. WOW. Creep! Anyways I did just that and Maaco was much nicer and helpful. I will call them tomorrow to see what the damage is. Also I found possibly 15 recalls on this vehicle! My gosh! I will be calling the local Ford dealership about them! My Explorer sport is my first suv & also my first time owning two vehicles at the same time. I need this Explorer to be in tip top shape not look like a rust box on wheels.. Ford you failed us

Explorer Sport 6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 55,000 miles

When I first purchased the car, all of the bumpers had to be repainted, they were never primed. The paint peeled off like a post it note. Now they won't paint the step bumpers.

Dealer says he sees it all the time and unless there is a class action suit, too bad.

It isn't just Explorers, also F-150 and 250 Trucks.
